The Mt. Peter base lodge addition & renovation updates the existing base lodge which is too small for the needs of the ski area. The new project includes renovating a portion of the existing 4,000 square foot building while adding another 10,000 square foot addition. The addition, consisting of two primary building volumes, contains two new dining rooms, an entry and ticketing pavilion, a rental shop, a daycare, offices, lockers, and general services. The building’s sustainable design parameters focus on minimizing site impact, using renewable materials for primary construction materials (wood), natural ventilation for passive cooling (offices and dining), low-flow water fixtures, reducing energy consumption through above-code insulation and weatherproofing systems, a green roof, solar ready design, and on-site waste water treatment.
